Neurology

The CARE team are able to investigate and treat a range of Nerological conditions in your pets

Our Internal Medicine and Surgery team can investigate and treat a range of neurological conditions

Signs that your pet may have a neurological condition include:

  • Paralysis
  • Seizures
  • Ataxia
  • Abnormal posture
  • Visual and hearing deficits
  • Pain
  • Muscle wasting

Initial investigation includes a consultation, where a thorough history and physical examination, (including a focused neurological examination) is performed. When appropriate, we may then discuss advanced imaging of the nervous system. Imaging options include computed tomography (using our new Siemens 16-slice CT scanner), myelography, fluoroscopy or MRI. Once the cause of the neurological signs is further defined, then a plan can be put in place to treat/manage the problem.

This may involve medication and, in some cases, surgery.
